  • The first few lines of any press release are the most important, as oftentimes readers simply scan the first paragraph for the major idea. Although powerful writing works best, overuse of adjectives or flowery language is not needed. Press releases should be a written in a professional style much like your typical newspaper article is written, and should include all relevant information about the company, product, or service.
  • Be sure that the information contained in the press release is indeed newsworthy. Issuing press releases too often can have the opposite effect as the one intended. If press releases are issued too often audiences will simply tune them out, not respond, or otherwise ignore them.
  • Since press releases are sent to media outlets, attaching samples, photos, graphics, or even videos will help reporters, readers, and others to better understand the news that you are releasing.
